Cut paper into 1" strips.

Here are my 12- 1" strips.

Place strips in water. Let them soak for a minute or two.

Take them out of water and gently ring them out.

Gently crinkle them.

Like this.

Now uncrinkle.

Place damp strips in a dryer bag, dry for about 5 to 10 minutes.

Alternatively, you could use a heat tool.

PS...

After your strips have dried, take one and fold the end like this.

You can prefold or fold as you go...

Now sew! Sew a stitch right down the middle. When you reach the end of the strip, take another one, fold the end and place it about 1/4" over the end of the first strip and sew together.

I attached 3 strips together for my ribbons.

Here's my heavenly pile of pleated (and a couple straight stitched) paper ribbons.

Love!!
